ON-ROAD DRIVER AWARENESS
Most New Zealand drivers tend to take a casual approach to operating vehicles. Often drivers have little or no formal training which may be reflected in the way they drive.
Many drivers display a confidence that is often misplaced and can, of itself, lead to a potential crash situation.
The ability to recognise the conditions which may, or do, affect our driving is something that usually develops over a period. It is a combination of knowledge and personal experience, some of which is good, and some of which arises from actual crashes or near misses – in other words, we tend to learn from our mistakes.
This course focuses on raising awareness and equipping drivers with the ability to recognise conditions that may impact their driving, and covers best practice ways to handle these conditions.
This course can be tailored to your specific training needs. Contact us for more information.
ON-ROAD TRAILER AWARENESS
Many businesses require employees to tow trailers in order to do their job. An understanding of trailer design, braking systems, connection systems, loading and appreciation of the required adjustment to driving techniques is important for safe trailer towing.
We assume people can drive with a trailer if they have a class 1 car license, but very few people are taught the specifics. Many managers or workers don’t understand what is legal or how the dynamics of vehicle control can change with a trailer load.
We provide a practical training solution to ensure staff safety within the bounds of best practise. We simplify this for you and make a practical difference.
The trailer training course is designed to produce a worker that is competent to look after your trailer and can safely operate them for work purposes. The course takes key practical and safety elements out of the various key NZQA courses and combines them into a single package. This provides a seamless training package that can be added to our other training courses and applied in safe learning environment.
Workers will be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attributes for all essential areas of the competency covered under the “Best Practice” guidelines for trailer use in the workplace.
This course is targeted specifically at the trailers you use at your workplace either on-road or off-road … or both!). This course enables the trainee to safely and legally operate a trailer over varied terrain. The trainee will also be able to demonstrate the appropriate responsibilities of a driver with emphasis on accident prevention. A high level of hazard identification and safe decision-making is also promoted as well as driving techniques that minimise negative environmental impact.
The course can be customised to incorporate your own workplace policies and procedures.

Pre-Employment Assessment
These assessments are critical to ensuring any prospective employee has the basic driving skills for the prospective role and to gauge their willingness to accept comments and recommendations.

This service can also serve as a training needs analysis which can help identify systemic faults within your drivers.
Assessment time is 1 to 2 hours depending on the role and requirements needed. A written report is included.
Post Incident Assessment
Unfortunately, incidents do happen even if the driver is experienced. Incidents can come in many differing situations and the outcomes can be minor or severe. All incidents should be investigated to identify failings in both the company and/or the driver or, a third party.
These assessments can be completed on or off job with a minimum assessment time of 1 hour. A written report is included.
Heavy and Light Vehicle Driver Assessments
High standards of individual driving skills for fleet drivers are critical for companies to ensure their vehicles are being driven in a safe, compliant and profitable manner.
Maintaining and improving these skills must be an ongoing process and to this end, it is recommended that drivers undertake scheduled driving assessments. Where possible, it is recommended that these assessments are completed on-job. A written report is included.
