🏞️ Days 1 & 2 – Island Hills Station | Hurunui
Day One – Arrival into the High Country
Your adventure begins with a scenic journey into Island Hills Station, one of the Hurunui’s most striking high-country landscapes. Rolling hills to mountain ranges, wide valleys, rivers and expansive tussock country create a powerful sense of space and remoteness from the moment you arrive.
Set out on a guided exploration of the station. Learn about high-country farming, land stewardship, and the history that has shaped this remarkable landscape. Experience elevated viewpoints that provide outstanding opportunities for photography and quiet appreciation, and valleys that offer the thrill of rocky river crossings.
After a lunch break, further exploration into valleys and ridgelines begins.
By late afternoon, settle into your camping experience and prepare your dinner under the stars.
Day Two – Deep Exploration & Morning Light
Wake to crisp mountain air and sweeping morning views across Island Hills Station. The day focuses on deeper exploration, reaching areas not accessed on Day One. Your guide will share further insight into station life, the terrain, and seasonal changes that shape the land.
After lunch and a final Island Hills experience, you will begin the journey south toward your next destination.
Camping for day two is set alongside the beautiful Ashley River or at the Hurunui Hotel Campsite amidst native bush and wildlife.
🐝 Days 3 & 4 – Springbank Honey & Glenburn Station
Day Three – Honey, Hills & Glenburn Station
Wake to bursts of birdsong and breakfast as you begin the day. Springbank Honey, is your first destination where you’ll enjoy a guided visit into the world of New Zealand beekeeping. Sample premium local honey featuring regional flavours, with the option to purchase food & coffee.
From here, travel into the high country at Glenburn Station, twisting roads open into a broad valley of farmland, ridgelines, and wide-open vistas.
A lunch break will be enjoyed on arrival before guided exploration of the station begins.
The afternoon offers varied terrain which includes elevated viewpoints, bush, swamps and rivers. As the day winds down, we head off to settle into the overnight camping site.
Day Four – Glenburn Mornings & Farewell Views
Wake with the expectation of another epic day of exploration at Glenburn Station. You’ll enjoy the panoramic views which stretch across the high country from the mountain we are traversing today.
Enjoy your breakfast, then spend the morning exploring additional areas of the station, with time for photography, and quiet reflection. Morning wildlife sightings are common, making this an ideal time to experience the land at its most alive.
After a final high-country experience, begin the return journey, concluding four days of immersion into New Zealand’s rural heartland.
